Attendance

Attendance Matters

Schools provide young people with knowledge, skills, friendships, and opportunities for the future. To give every learner the very best chance in life, it begins with attending school regularly.

“If we want to offer every child the best chance in life, it must start with ensuring that they can regularly attend school.”
Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner 2023

At Regency High School, we are committed to supporting every learner to attend each day. Being alongside friends, staff, and peers helps students learn, grow, and thrive. Attendance is key to progress, wellbeing, and preparation for adulthood.

Parents and carers play a vital role in promoting good attendance. By encouraging your child to attend regularly and on time, you support their learning and build essential life skills such as resilience, routine, and responsibility.

Reporting Absence

Parents/carers must call the school absence line before 9.15am on the first day of absence.

  • If you are unable to call, please email attendance@regency.worcs.sch.uk

Why Good Attendance Matters at Regency High School

Coming to school every day is really important for children and young people. Regular attendance helps your child to:

  • Learn and make progress – every day provides structured teaching and activities designed to support their needs.
  • Build friendships and social skills – school gives opportunities to connect with others in a safe, familiar environment.
  • Access therapies, individual learning targets and specialist support – including speech, occupational or physiotherapy, which are often part of the school day.
  • Feel secure with routines – regular attendance reduces anxiety and supports emotional wellbeing.
  • Prepare for the future – good attendance builds confidence, independence and the routines needed for adult life.
  • Stay safe – attending regularly means staff can support your child’s wellbeing and pick up quickly on any concerns.

Together, we can give every child/ young person the best chance to succeed by helping them attend school as much as possible.
